Classwire serves licensed Texas preschools, independent teaching consultants, and the families they work with. We understand the sensitive nature of children's data in educational settings and are committed to compliance with all applicable federal and state privacy laws.
Information We Collect
Student Data
- Names, dates of birth, and enrollment information
- Developmental progress records and attendance
- Photos (when uploaded by authorized school staff or teachers)
- Program and class assignments
Parent/Guardian Data
- Names and contact information (email, phone)
- Account credentials
- Payment information (processed securely via Stripe — we do not store credit card numbers)
School & Teacher Data
- School name, address, and tax identification number
- Administrator and teacher names and email addresses
- Billing and subscription information
Usage Data
- Pages visited, features used, and session duration
- Browser type, device type, and operating system
- IP address (for security and rate limiting)
How We Use Information
We use collected information solely for educational and operational purposes:
- Providing and improving the Classwire platform
- Facilitating communication between schools, teachers, and families
- Processing payments and managing subscriptions
- Ensuring platform security and preventing abuse
- Sending service-related notifications (not marketing)
We do not:
- Sell, rent, or trade any personal or student data
- Use student data for targeted advertising
- Build commercial profiles of students or children
- Use student data for any purpose unrelated to the educational services we provide
Legal Bases & Compliance
COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act)
Classwire does not collect personal information directly from children under 13. All student data is provided by authorized school staff, teachers, or parents/guardians. Schools may provide consent on behalf of parents for educational use under the FTC's school authorization provision. We do not use children's data for any commercial purpose beyond providing the educational service.
FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)
When used by schools, Classwire acts as a "school official" with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA. Education records remain under the control of the school. We access student data only as needed to provide the service and under the direct control of the school. Parents retain their rights to inspect, review, and request amendment of their child's education records through the school.
Texas Student Privacy Act (Education Code §32.151)
As an operator under the Texas Student Privacy Act, Classwire:
- Does not sell student data or use it for non-educational commercial purposes
- Does not use student data for advertising or to create commercial profiles
- Implements and maintains reasonable security procedures
- Deletes student data upon request from the school or when no longer needed
- Does not knowingly engage in targeted advertising using student data
TDPSA (Texas Data Privacy and Security Act)
Classwire adheres to the TDPSA's requirements for processing personal data:
- Data minimization: We collect only data necessary to provide the service
- Purpose limitation: Data is processed only for disclosed purposes
- Consumer rights: Users may access, correct, delete, and export their data
- Opt-out: Users may opt out of any non-essential data processing
- Sensitive data: Children's data receives heightened protection with explicit consent requirements
Data Sharing & Third Parties
We share data only as necessary to operate the platform:
- Stripe — Payment processing (payment data only)
- Railway — Application hosting and database infrastructure
- Cloudflare R2 — Secure file storage (uploaded documents and images)
- Google OAuth — Authentication (email address for login only)
All third-party service providers are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection agreements. We do not sell or share personal data with any party for marketing or commercial purposes.

Data Retention & Deletion

- Account termination: Upon termination, data is deleted within 30 days unless a longer retention period is required by law
- School requests: Schools may request deletion of their data at any time. We process deletion requests within 30 days and provide certification of deletion upon request
- Individual requests: Users may request deletion of their personal data through the account deletion feature or by contacting us
Breach Notification
In the event of a data breach affecting personal information:
- We will notify affected schools and individuals within 60 days as required by Texas law
- Notification will include: the nature of the breach, types of data affected, steps taken to address it, and recommended protective actions
- We will cooperate with schools in meeting their own notification obligations
Parental & School Rights
Parents, guardians, and schools have the following rights regarding data we hold:
- Access: Request a copy of data we hold about you or your child
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate data
- Deletion: Request deletion of personal data
- Export: Request a portable copy of your data
- Withdraw consent: Withdraw consent for data processing at any time
- Complaint: File a complaint regarding our data practices
